The World of Wearables ⌚️👓

Wearables have come a long way from just counting steps or monitoring heart rates. At CES this year, wearables offered a wide variety of functionalities to complement our daily lives. One of the most exciting advancements in the world of wearables (in my opinion) is the integration of augmented reality (AR). Let's take a look at some innovative wearables from CES 2024.

ASUS AirVision M1 Smart Glasses

Introducing the AirVision M1 - a wearable device that eliminates the need for multiple monitors. The device provides a unique multi-monitor experience in a stylish and sleek format. It's perfect for professionals who value their privacy as the content is only visible to the wearer. With this device, multitasking has been redefined, combining functionality with fashion.

Zepp Health’s Amazfit Helio Ring

This smart ring is specifically engineered for high-intensity performance and recovery. It monitors both physical and mental well-being which, together, make up your ‘Readiness’ score. This score comes from metrics like activity levels, heart rate, sleep quality, etc. The ring offers advanced health tracking features so users can optimize both training and recovery. There’s also a subscription service with the app that provides detailed sleep reports, meditation sounds, and an AI chatbot called “Zepp Wellness Coach” that can analyze sleep patterns and answer wellness questions.

Evolve MVMT

The Evolve MVMT ankle wearable, which made its debut at CES 2024, is a wearable that doesn’t just count steps but focuses on the quality of each step to reduce joint stress. The wearable analyzes how your heel strikes the ground and provides insights into your walking pattern. Evolve MVMT uses a method called 'light walking' to minimize heel striking, a common issue leading to joint discomfort and injuries. Studies have shown that using the Evolve MVMT technique can lead to burning 36% more calories than traditional walking methods.

There’s also the Baliston by STARK Smart Shoe which analyzes your gait biometrics and over time is used to create customized insoles catered to your walking style.

📢 Buzzword of the day: Gait. Gait apparently refers to the way a person walks or runs- it’s all about the pattern of movement.

The mirror uses generative AI and natural language processing to identify the user’s mood and suggest exercises like guided meditation or self-affirmations.

The Future of Retail- Spotlight on Walmart 💻 🛒

A couple of things mentioned in Walmart’s Keynote at CES:

New GenAI-Powered Search Experience: Walmart is enhancing its Generative AI-powered search experience. The goal is to transform how we find products online, making the process more intuitive, personalized, and efficient.

Social Commerce Platform: Embracing the intersection of retail and social media, Walmart unveiled a new social commerce platform, “Shop With Friends”. This will allow shoppers to share virtual outfits with friends in real-time, using Augmented Reality (AR).

👠 Fashion Forward at CES 2024

The Kooples x IMKI: This unique collaboration brought an AI-powered capsule collection to CES, merging The Kooples' iconic fashion pieces with the innovative capabilities of generative AI.

RANRA x Lenovo: This collaboration highlights the seamless integration of technology and fashion. The Lenovo Tab Wear Collection, developed with RANRA and other designers, features garments that physically incorporate Lenovo tablets (pockets, privacy viewing hood.. etc.).

Innovative Inks: Imprintu and Prinker

There were a couple of temporary tattoo printers at CES (random, I know!). Both Imprintu and Prinker offer a painless and commitment-free method of body art.

Imprintu was developed by LG Household & Health Care and the portable temporary tattoo printer has gained traction among millennials and Gen Z on TikTok. Imprintu can also be used on sustainable clothing materials.

Prinker also applies temporary tattoos and can print on skin or paper. The device pairs with a mobile app that offers thousands of designs or users can upload their own designs.

I was talking to ChatGPT about Prinker and Imprintu and it spit out a photo in its response so I decided to include it below.

All of these futuristic inventions got me inspired so I dreamed up a few products of my own on X! We’re not quite at AR tattoos yet but maybe next year at CES!
